THE RADCLIFFE LINES
Synopsis
The Radcliffe Lines is a provocative historical drama that revisits the birth of India and Pakistan in 1947-not through Indian or Pakistani eyes, but from the British point of view.
Set behind closed doors in colonial offices, the series explores how the British perceived Indian society-its religions, caste system, corruption, education, legal framework, and politics-and how these perceptions shaped one of the most rushed and consequential decisions in world history: the drawing of the Radcliffe Line.
The narrative examines how British officials viewed leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Muhammad Ali Jinnah-were they seen as moral visionaries, dangerous idealists, political opportunists, or simply men trapped by forces larger than themselves?
Through tense conversations, moral dilemmas, and strategic calculations, The Radcliffe Lines reveals what the British truly believed about India’s top leadership and its people-and whether Partition was a tragic inevitability or a calculated convenience.
It doesn’t just seek answers; it questions the silences passed down through generations-such as how fewer than one million Britishers ruled over more than 350 million Indians, and many other uncomfortable questions that confront not only Indian leadership, but the Indian people themselves.
